Against All Odds: Evian to spray the champagne

It's been a rapid rise for Evian TG since their formation in 2007 and Paul Robinson thinks that those who tune into ESPN at 20:00 can see them upset the odds and lift the Coupe de France...

Bordeaux have had a mixed campaign to date. After getting bogged down in Europa League fixtures their domestic form fell away before finishing the season with just two defeats in 11 and climbing to seventh in Ligue One.

Francis Gillot's side are the red-hot favourites to lift this trophy after seeing off Lens in the semis and the fact that they completed the double over their opponents in the league. Those matches were relatively tight affairs though and the margin of each victory was just a single goal.

The second of those clashes happened last Sunday in Bordeaux but I wouldn't read too much into that form as we saw in England this year that an underdog can overturn a recent league defeat in a cup final.

Evian TG escaped relegation thanks to back to back wins over Nice and Valenciennes in the middle of May. They kept clean sheets in both of those fixtures and it shows that when the pressure is on, the players can raise their game.

Pascal Dupraz will be drumming it into his side that despite the slight gulf in class, they can beat anyone on their day. Les Roses have already knocked out PSG and Lorient on their way to the final and they will be brimming with confidence in the Stade de France later on.

Bordeaux are a very short price to lift the trophy this evening and while they'll badly want the cup and the place in the Europa League, Evian have their own thirst for success. At around the 1.52 mark, I have to make Bordeaux to win the Coupe de France my lay of the day.
