Against All Odds: Old Lady to creak against AC Milan

21Apr 2013

Serie A 2010/11

Juventus are within touching distance of retaining the Scudetto but Paul Robinson believes they will suffer a mini setback at the hands of AC Milan this evening in a  match that can be seen live on ESPN at 19:45.

Antonio Conte's side are 11 points clear at the top of Serie A with just 18 points left to play for. The title is all but sewn up but Conte hasn't let his men ease off  the gas in recent weeks - five league wins in a row - although they did suffer a pair of disappointing losses to Bayern Munich in the Champions League.

The last time Juve failed to win in Turin in domestic action was on January 26th when they were held to a 1-1 draw by Genoa. The Old Lady did lose 2-0 at home to  Bayern though and they've been defeated by Inter and Sampdoria this term. Scoring goals is still a slight issue as their top scorer only has nine goals to his name,  but in fairness they do spread them around the team as five players have netted at least seven.

AC Milan are in third place, four points adrift of Napoli in second but four points clear of Fiorentina in fourth. They did make a slow start to their campaign as they  cleared out some of their older players and revamped their team, but they are unbeaten in 2013 and ran Barcelona incredibly close in the Champions League.

Mario Balotelli is suspended for this match which is a blow as he's scored seven in eight since his move from Manchester City, but three of those were penalties and  fellow strikers Giampaolo Pazzini and Stephen El Shaarawy have 29 league goals between them this term.

Clearly Juventus are a fine team and have an excellent chance of winning. AC Milan are unbeaten in 2013 though and they are seven undefeated away from the San Siro. A  point will do for the defending champions and with them trading at around the 1.77 mark for the win, I have to make them my lay of the day.
