Cricket: Broad return boosts England

 

Ashley Giles was relieved to see Twenty20 captain Stuart Broad come through his first outdoor bowling session unscathed.

 

Broad will be available for the upcoming Twenty20 series against New Zealand, which England are 8/11 with bet365 to win. He was forced out of the tour of India with a bruised heel but came through five overs with no ill-effects on Thursday, and Giles reiterated he will have an important role to play in the clashes with the Black Caps. "He's got a major part to play in three forms of the game," said England's limited-overs coach after watching Broad bowl. Broad's place had come under scrutiny after he failed to claim a wicket during the Test series against India, and he will be aiming for a return to form against New Zealand.
