Ferguson dismisses Rooney exit talk

Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney will still be a Manchester United player next season.

Speculation about the 27-year-old former Everton star's future had been rife after he was left out of United's starting line-up for the Champions League clash against Real Madrid on Tuesday. However, Ferguson says Rooney, who is 4/1 with bet365 to open the scoring in Sunday's FA Cup sixth-round clash against Chelsea, is going nowhere. When asked about the player, Ferguson replied: "He'll be here next year. You can have my word on that. There is no issue between myself and Wayne Rooney. To suggest we don't talk is nonsense."
