Golf: McDowell aims to push on

 

Graeme McDowell hopes that victory at the RBC Heritage in South Carolina will be the spur needed to reignite his career.

 

The 2010 US Open champion, who is 33/1 with bet365 to win the tournament again in 2013, last tasted victory in October 2010 at the Andalucia Masters and hopes that his play-off success in South Carolina will be the springboard to further victories. The Northern Irishman said: "It feels like something. It feels different than a regular win. "I played nicely, I played nicely all week. The putter was cold most of the week, but I really got it going today. "I took a pretty relaxed approach this week and really tried to enjoy myself. It seemed to work out really well. "This game kicks you more often than it gives you a pat on the back. It's hard to win."
