Gunners to misfire on the road again

Premier League

Arsenal travel to the struggling Reading this evening for a Premier League clash and Paul Robinson thinks they are far too short in the market given that they've not won away since the start of October.

Reading have been demoted to rock bottom courtesy of QPR's win at the weekend and a run of five defeats in a row. Although they didn't win many at the start of the season, they were at least hard to beat, and before this slide began they'd lost just one of their previous seven.

There have been rumours that Brian McDermott has lost the dressing room, which were further fuelled last week when Danny Guthrie refused to travel to Sunderland. I get the feeling though that they will want to show a united front in front of their own fans tonight. The Royals' form at the Madejski isn't that bad; a defeat last time out to Manchester United was their first since September, having previously beaten Everton and drawn with Newcastle, Fulham and Norwich.

Arsenal are in eighth place after making their worst ever start under Arsene Wenger. Things reached a new low last week as they were knocked out of the Capital One Cup by Bradford, and the supporters are beginning to revolt.

The Gunners' form on the road has been very poor in recent weeks. They haven't completed a victory in normal time since the 3-1 win at West Ham back in the first week of October. Since then they've lost to Norwich, Manchester United and Olympiakos, and drawn with Reading, Schalke, Aston Villa, Everton and Bradford.

Both of these clubs could do with picking up the three points tonight and while I would make Arsenal favourites, I certainly don't rate them as a 1.66 shot. At the prices, I have to make them my lay of the day.
