Hamilton earns Horner backing

Red Bull team supremo Christian Horner believes that the arrival of Lewis Hamilton will spur Mercedes on to be serious contenders this season.

Nico Rosberg won the Chinese Grand Prix for the Silver Arrow last year and Horner expects Mercedes to be challenging for further success in 2013, especially with former world champion Hamilton in their midst. Horner told PA Sport: "Their car looks quick and with Lewis joining the team they will naturally take a step forward. Their challenge will be sustaining it over a whole season. "Lewis, as we all know, is a world-class driver and he is going to raise their level. "He is worth lap-time, which is why they signed him and I'm sure they're going to be a factor this season." Mercedes, who finished in fifth place last season, are 12/1 with bet365 to win the constructors' title this season, while Hamilton is 8/13 to win a race.
