Lescott offered Milner support

Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott will serve England well if selected against San Marino on Friday, according to club and country colleague James Milner.

Lescott has been drafted into the national team squad by Roy Hodgson due to injury problems and could be called on to face San Marino on Friday and possibly Montenegro next Tuesday. Although Lescott has not featured regularly for the Citizens this season, Milner has no doubts over the class of his team-mate. Milner insisted: "Joleon hasn't played a load of games for City this year, but when he has done he has played well. "Joleon has played a lot of games for England and is a top player. He is full of confidence and ready to go. He will be ready for Friday."
