Next Everton Manager Betting: Martinez favourite to take over at Goodison Park

England - Premier League

Will this be the summer that Martinez finally leaves Wigan? The early betting in Betfair's Next Everton manager markets suggests the Spaniard will success Moyes at  Goodison Park...

Roberto Martinez is the early favourite to replace David Moyes as Everton manager following the Scot's likely departure to Old Trafford.

The Wigan boss has many admirers throughout the game for his work at one of the Premier League's smallest clubs and has long been touted to take over at a club with  greater resources. He was backed in to 1.36 to take over at Liverpool last summer before losing out to Brendan Rodgers.

Martinez has lead his team to the FA Cup final which takes place on Saturday but, in an ironic twist, this could be the season that Wigan are relegated from the  Premier League. The Latics sit three points from safety and are 1.33 to start next season in The Championship.

In a developing market, the Spanish manager heads the betting at around 3.0 ahead of notable contenders including Brighton's Gus Poyet (12.0), Celtic's Neil Lennon (8.0) and the currently unemployed Mark Hughes (12.0).

More exotic options include Porto's Vitor Pereira, ex-Chelsea boss Roberto di Matteo or the soon to be ex-Chelsea boss and former Liverpool manager Rafael Benitez.

Cash-strapped Everton could choose to hire from within and assistant manager Steve Round is a live runner in the market with Phil Neville attracting early money.
