Opta Stats: Frustrations to produce red card at Reading

27Apr 2013

England - Premier League

With a weekend of beautiful Premier League football on the horizon, Christian Crowther picks out four more Opta-influenced bets to sample...

Manchester City v West Ham (Saturday, 12:45, Sky Sports 2)

The Hammers have scored just nine goals in their last 16 Premier League games against Man City and never more than once in a game in that run

Having relinquished their maiden Premier League title so early on, Roberto Mancini can ill-afford for his City side to finish the season on a whimper as speculation about his job surfaces once more. West Ham however, should make obliging guests despite some recent good results. Manchester City have won seven and lost just one of their last 11 Premier League match-ups with the Londoners. The reverse fixture produced a stalemate at Upton Park.

Recommended Bet: Back Man City to win to nil @ 2.3

Reading v QPR (Sunday, 13:30, Sky Sports 1)

There have been five red cards in the last five league meetings between QPR and Reading

This Sunday lunchtime clash has the feeling of a cruel circus act about it; put the unfortunate souls into a ring and make them dance for our viewing pleasure. A season's worth of frustrations will be played out at the Madejski between the two bottom sides in this hoops derby, where the blind necessity to win is sure to facilitate a frenetic pace. This is clearly a fixture that hasn't needed much prompting to produce a fracas in recent times either.

Best Bet: Back there to be a sending off @ 5.0

Chelsea v Swansea (Sunday, 15:00)

Petr Cech has the best clean sheet ratio (0.49) of any goalkeeper in Premier League history (140 in 287 appearances)

He may wear a silly hat, but Chelsea's veteran keeper is a pretty serious shot stopper who still has the reactions of a cat. You only have to look at his wonder save against Javier Hernandez in the FA Cup to appreciate just what a fine custodian he's been and, if he keeps just one more clean sheet, he'll become the third highest shut-out merchant in Premier League history. The Blues have only conceded once in their last three league games at Stamford Bridge.

Recommended Bet: Back Chelsea to keep a clean sheet @ 2.3

Arsenal v Manchester United (Sunday, 16:00, Sky Sports 1)

Manchester United have won six and lost one of the last seven Premier League meetings with Arsenal

They may have just claimed a 20th English title and just the 13th Premier League crown of Sir Alex Ferguson's distinguished reign, but while the Scot is in charge they will not lie down for anyone, especially with a record points total to chase. With Olivier Giroud suspended, Arsenal's goal threat will be watered down and the script writers are certain to have a certain Robin van Persie to add to his tally as well.

Recommended Bet: Back Manchester United to win @ 3.45
