Wayne Mardle: Back Dutch pair of Barney and Van Gerwen to do the business

Week 14 of the Premier League is here, and Wayne Mardle thinks Raymond van Barneveld will have too much for Simon Whitlock while Michael van Gerwen is in unrelenting  form...

Simon Whitlock v Raymond van Barneveld

Simon has played superbly well to even be in with a shout of a playoff place but I think this match up with Raymond van Barneveld will be a step too far.

Barney has been the most consistent performer in this year's Premier League, he's showed that he's up for a fight as well, a trait that's not often said about the big  Dutchman, and so Simon will have to really be on top form to have a chance. I've got this down as a Barney win.

Recommended Bet

Back Raymond van Barneveld to win 7-5 at 10.0

Michael van Gerwen v Robert Thornton

Robert won a tour event on Saturday, his second win in three weeks, so he's playing well, and his opponent MVG won the next tour event on the Sunday so in theory this  should be a belter. Extra spice is thrown into the mix in the form of Robert needing to win to have any chance of a playoff spot.

Michael is unrelenting though, and I think he'll out score The Thorn and go into the playoffs having topped the table.

Recommended Bet

Michael van Gerwen to win 7-2 and 7-3 at 6.0 and 6.5 respectively

Michael van Gerwen to hit the most 180s at around 1.9

Andy Hamilton v Adrian Lewis

What a match up this will be! Two highly unpredictable players and all the thrill of the Premier League!

The Hammer used to be the most consistent player on tour, but in this Premier League he's shown a few frailties. Lewis on his day (and he's not having his day that  often at the moment) beats anyone, and I'm going for Adrian because he can produce a tide turner should he need it.

Recommended Bet

Back Adrian Lewis to win at 2.1

Phil Taylor v James Wade

James Wade has let it slip. Losing to Hamilton last week was a massive blow for him, especially after losing to Simon Whitlock and all that after he'd lost to Raymond  van Barneveld the week before.

Taylor is still tinkering with his darts and set up, which is a distraction for him, yet he persists. He had no trouble overcoming Robert Thornton and is still the  main man in this Premier League. He can stop Wade progressing and I think he will, in probably quite easy fashion.

Recommended Bet

Back Phil Taylor to win 7-3 and 7-4 at 6.75 and 6.25 respectively

Back The Draw in most 180s at around 5.0

Robert Thornton v Raymond van Barneveld

Robert's hopes could be dashed by the time this match comes around and that might affect him, so we'll need to wait and see how the other games go I think.

As I said before Barney is playing very well indeed and I can't see The Thorn posing too many problems to him when he's in this sort of form. I think he'll win again  and post a few more maximums in the process.

Recommended Bets

Back Raymond van Barneveld to win at 1.72

Back Raymond van Barneveld to hit the most 180s at around 2.1

Adrian Lewis v Simon Whitlock

Like Robert Thornton, Simon Whitlock's Premier League could well be over by the time his game comes around so it's difficult to know what frame of mind he'll be in.

That said, Adrian Lewis hasn't played that well when he's had to play twice in a night though, so for that reason alone I'm going for Simon to run riot.

Recommended Bet

Back Simon Whitlock to win 7-3 at 6.75
