Against All Odds: Dons to get something at Roots Hall

Southend are odds-on for their clash with AFC Wimbledon in England's League Two this evening and Paul Robinson thinks they are worth taking on at the prices.

Southend are currently eighth in the league, five points off the play-off places with a game in hand. After missing out in the play-offs last term, Paul Sturrock will  be hoping his men can at least get another shot at them this season, but if that's to happen, they need to improve on their recent home form.

At Roots Hall, Southend have won just three of their last 13 in the league and have lost three of their last five. The goals have dried up recently as The Shrimpers  have scored one or less in every home match in 2013. That stat is compounded by the fact that they kept just one clean sheet in that period and conceded five times in  their last three matches.

AFC Wimbledon are battling relegation but they do at least have two points and two places breathing room from the drop zone. Their recent form has been pretty good for  a side that far down the table; one defeat in six and just and just three in their last 13, home and away.

The Dons come into this match having beaten York at the weekend and Neal Ardley will be hopeful that his men can pick up a result tonight. The concern is that they've  lost three of their last four away from Kingsmeadow, however two of those were against top five teams and they did win at Dagenham at the end of February.

Southend have won the only four meetings between these two but they aren't in the best of nick at present and I think they are a touch too short at around the 1.88 mark. That's why, at the prices, I'm making them my lay of the day.
