Against All Odds: Great value to be had in Iceland

Grindavik travel to Throttur for a clash in the Icelandic First Division tonight and while the away side are in much better form, Paul Robinson thinks that the hosts can take something from the game.

Our winning streak came to an end yesterday as we fell one goal short between Las Palmas and Almeria. However, in better news, the Velez and All Boys fixture that was suspended on Saturday was completed and it finished 0-0, meaning the recommended lay of Velez turned out to be a winning one.

Throttur have made a dreadful start to their campaign as they find themselves second from bottom with just three points from a possible 15. They've also been knocked out of both cup competitions, although they at least had some good results in the League Cup.

The side from Reykjavík just haven't been performing in the Deild though and that's quite surprising considering they finished last season with seven victories from 10 matches. Interestingly, they didn't start last year too well either as it took eight games before they managed to record their first victory.

Páll Einarsson's men have already achieved a win this term and while they've lost on their other four outings, they can at least take heart from the fact that each defeat was by a single goal margin, and in their last match, they had to play most of the second half with 10 men.

Grindavik were relegated from the top flight last season but they've made a great start at bouncing straight back as they currently top the table with 12 points from a possible 15. After losing their opening fixture against Vikingur they've gone on to win four in a row, scoring 15 goals in the process.

Milan Stefán Jankovic's have benefited from having four of those five matches at home though and, like their opponents, they have also been knocked out of both cups. Furthermore, while they've been scoring plenty of goals, they haven't kept a clean sheet since the opening day and trailed 2-0 early on against bottom club Volsungur last week.

It would be easy to look at the league table and recent results and assume that this is a banker away win. Digging a little deeper though and there are plenty of signs that Throttur can take something from this game on home soil. That's why, with Grindavik trading as low as 1.73, I have to make them my lay of the day.
