Alcaraz faces race against time

Paraguay international defender Antolin Alcaraz may miss the rest of the season, including Wigan Athletic's FA Cup Final encounter with Manchester City on 11th May.

Alcaraz suffered a hamstring injury in Saturday's 2-0 defeat at West Ham United and also looks set to miss the Latics' battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League. Wigan are 4/6 with bet365 to be relegated and 4/1 to beat Manchester City and clinch the FA Cup for the first time in their history. Boss Roberto Martinez said: "We'll treat him and see how quickly he responds to treatment. But obviously soft-tissue injuries of that type would usually take the best part of three weeks to heal. "Hopefully, we can use this time to work on other aspects of his fitness to make sure he can return before the end of the season."
