Arsenal urged to splash the cash

Ex-Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour has called on his former club to make several big-money signings in the summer.

Parlour believes that a number of top-quality recruits are needed to allow the Gunners to rejoin the Premier League elite, with fifth-placed Arsenal currently 5/6 with bet365 to secure a top-four finish. The one-time England midfielder insisted: "This summer Arsenal need three or four top-quality players. "The players that they have brought in have not been up to the standard needed to challenge Manchester United and City and compete in Europe as well. They need to go up a level." Arsenal, who have won four of their last five Premier League games, face a crunch North London derby with Spurs on Sunday, with the Lilywhites having moved up into third place in the table by winning 3-2 at West Ham on Monday evening. The Gunners are four points adrift of Spurs going into the game, with Chelsea in fourth place, two points better off than Arsenal.
