Back Swans to sink Stoke

19Jan 2013

Andrew Hughes thinks Swansea will give Stoke a football lesson on Saturday and help land a cross-sport multiple in the process.

Betfair now gives you the facility to mix and match your multiples across a huge range of sports and markets with the easy-to-use betslip and so each weekend I've been putting together a cross-sport treble with the aim of showing the way to maximise your profits.

Bet 1: Back Swansea to beat Stoke at 2.15

This will be Swansea's seventh game in 22 days, with the second leg of their Capital One Cup semi-final against Chelsea to come on Wednesday. But Michael Laudrup will be able to call upon six first choice players who were rested against Arsenal in midweek, so will field a full strength side.

Whilst a Wembley appearance would be quite a boost for the club, Premier League results are paramount and the Swans should be able to pick up all three points at the Liberty Stadium, where they have only lost two of their last seventeen fixtures.

All ten games between these two teams have been won by the home side and worryingly for Stoke, their form is starting to slip. Back to back defeats in the Premier League ended their unbeaten run and they've leaked ten goals in their last three games. They may also be feeling the effects of the extra time they played against Crystal Palace in midweek. Back Swansea to grab the points.

Bet 2: Back Northampton to beat Glasgow at 1.53

Northampton are having a disappointing season, but after losing two of their opening three Heineken Cup games, they have fought their way back and now find themselves with a mathematical chance of sneaking into the quarter-finals.

A victory in Glasgow is essential, and they do at least travel north in some sort of form. They have been poor away from Franklin's Gardens this season, but they were much improved when beating Exeter a couple of weeks back and they will face lesser opposition on Saturday.

Glasgow are rock bottom of Pool 4 and have only pride to play for. They are also suffering from a debilitating injury crisis, which means they will have to make ten changes for this game, and may not even be able to call on a full complement of replacements. Back Saints to prevail at 1.53 in the Match Odds market

Bet 3: Back Neil Robertson to beat Shaun Murphy at 1.61

The first semi-final of the Betfair Masters is a clash between defending champion Neil Robertson and another former World Champion, Shaun Murphy, who is bidding to become the eighth man to win snooker's 'triple crown'.

Number one seed Robertson has had to fight hard to get to this stage, seeing off Ding Junhui and then prevailing narrowly over Mark Allen in a gripping quarter-final. Murphy's progress has been scrappier, but he overcame John Higgins to reach the semi-final and he is high on confidence after his run to the final of the UK Championship last month.

History is not on Murphy's side however. He's played Robertson on thirteen occasions, but although he has beaten the Australian six times, he's lost six of the last seven. The left-hander clearly has the edge and is the one to back here.
