Barry expects City to improve

England - Premier League

Midfielder Gareth Barry has backed Manchester City to improve in defence after their latest lapses saw them lose 3-2 at Real Madrid in the Champions League.

The Citizens, who are 6/4 (2.50) with bet365 to retain their Premier League title this season, have conceded 11 goals in six games so far this term, but Barry expects City to tighten up as time goes on.

The England international said: "We are scoring a lot of goals but conceding at the same time. I am sure as the season goes on that it is something we can work on. "We played a good game at Madrid and there were a lot of positives to take away from it. Even when we went 2-1 up we knew it was going to be a lot of hard work but we showed how dangerous we can be."

City's next assignment is a home clash with Arsenal on Sunday, a fixture the Manchester club won 1-0 last season thanks to a David Silva goal.
