Championship pair shown the door

England - The Championship

Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest have sacked their managers after contrasting results on Boxing Day.

Henning Berg was axed by Rovers following his side's 1-0 defeat at Middlesbrough, with the Norwegian sent packing after just 57 days in charge and one win in ten games at the helm. Blackburn have slipped to 17th place in the Championship table as a result of their recent slump and they are now 22/1 with bet365 to be relegated this season. Meanwhile, Sean O'Driscoll exited the City Ground after guiding Forest to a 4-2 home win over Leeds United, with the Midlanders just one point outside the play-off places and 11/2 with bet365 to gain promotion to the top-flight. The axing of O'Driscoll raised eyebrows in some quarters, but chairman Fawaz Al Hasawi is confident that he has done the right thing. He told the club's official website: "We are looking to bring in an ambitious manager with Premier League experience. "And with the January transfer window approaching, we feel it's the right time to make a change."
