Coyle confirmed as Martinez's successor

Wigan Athletic have named the former St Johnstone, Bolton Wanderers and Burnley boss Owen Coyle as their new manager.

The 46-year-old Scot, who guided Bolton to the FA Cup semi-finals in 2011, has been without a club since he was axed by Wanderers eight months ago. Coyle succeeds Roberto Martinez as Latics boss following the Spaniard's decision to move to Everton.
