Cross-Sport Multiple: Back Tranmere to stop Stevenage

Andrew Hughes thinks Tranmere can halt their slide down the table at the expense of Stevenage and help land a Sunday cross-sport multiple in the process.

Betfair now gives you the facility to mix and match your multiples across a huge range of sports and markets with the easy-to-use betslip and so each weekend I've been putting together a cross-sport treble with the aim of showing the way to maximise your profits.

Bet 1: Back Tranmere to beat Stevenage at 1.9

A run of fourteen defeats in eighteen games derailed the Stevenage promotion push and led to the premature sacking of manager Gary Smith. Skipper Mark Roberts takes over as caretaker, but the conventional wisdom that a managerial change leads to a temporary improvement in performance can safely be ignored here.

Their away form has been Borough's downfall, with six consecutive defeats on the road, in which they scored just twice. Form like that is hard to turn around.

Tranmere's season has taken a similarly disappointing turn. After setting the early pace, they began to stall over Christmas and have slipped to the fringe of the play-offs. But their injury list isn't as extensive as it was, and the re-signing of Ben Gibson is a big plus. Tranmere won this fixture 3-0 last year, and can claim the points again.

Bet 2: Back Harlequins to beat Saracens at 2.7

Sunday's game at Allianz Park is a top of the table clash between last year's Aviva Premiership winners, Harlequins, currently in second place, and Saracens, who currently have a four point lead.

Saracens have been on form, scoring twelve tries in their last three games, and taking advantage of Harlequins slipping up against Exeter in their last league match. But the return of key England internationals mean that both sides will be much changed, so recent form may not count for too much.

Quins won this fixture 24-19 last season and are the best away team in the Premiership, having won their last six games on the road in all competitions. The artificial surface at Allianz Park means the going will be good, and will suit Quins game better. Back the visitors to grab the points.

Bet 3: Back Leeds to beat Wakefield at 1.25

The Super League champions face a busy week, with matches against Bradford and the Catalan Dragons to come, so the rearrangement of this game, originally scheduled for Friday, is far from ideal.

Assuming it goes ahead on Sunday, conditions will be tough, and Leeds will have to grind out a result against a determined Wakefield side, still looking to build on their strong finish to last year's campaign.

The Rhinos have had an up and down start to the season, including a surprise defeat to Castleford, but they've won three of their last four and are starting to get into gear. They have the class to edge out a Wakefield side that haven't won in four.
