Cross-Sport Multiple: Back United to stop the rot at Stoke

Andrew Hughes thinks Manchester United will return to winning ways on Sunday and help land a cross-sport multiple in the process.

Betfair now gives you the facility to mix and match your multiples across a huge range of sports and markets with the easy-to-use betslip and so each weekend I've been putting together a cross-sport treble with the aim of showing the way to maximise your profits.

Bet 1: Back Manchester United to beat Stoke at 1.61

The last time Manchester United lost three games in a row was in 2001, and after crashing out of the FA Cup and offering their nearest rivals a faint glimmer of hope by losing the Manchester derby, Alex Ferguson will be doing everything he can to stamp out any late season complacency

A trip to the Britannia Stadium is just the sort of bracing encounter he would have wished for. Stoke will be physically strong, they will make things uncomfortable for the United players, but they won't win.

The Potters have won just two of their last sixteen and one of their last seven at the Britannia. Goals are the main problem, or the lack thereof. They've found the net a meagre 28 times in 32 league games. Stoke haven't ever beaten Manchester United in the Premier League and they aren't about to start now.

Bet 2: Back Northampton Saints to beat London Welsh at 1.25

With three games to go in the Aviva Premiership, things are looking bleak for London Welsh. Eight points adrift of Sale, they need to win all three of their remaining fixtures; a tall order, given that they haven't won a Premiership game since December.

They will at least have the advantage of playing in front of their home fans at the Kassam Stadium, after a run of four games on the road - during which they picked up a single bonus point.

But they are up against a Northampton side with almost as much to play for. After their home defeat to Leicester last weekend, Saints are locked in a tight race with Gloucester and Harlequins for third and fourth place, with Bath not too far back in sixth. They've won all four of their Premiership encounters against London Welsh and should make it five on Sunday.

Bet 3: Back Sun Risers Hyderabad to beat Kolkata Knight Riders at 2.37

The defending champions have made a slow start to IPL6. After beating Delhi on the opening day, they've lost to Rajasthan and Bangalore, and find themselves seventh in the table. They remain one of the best bowling sides in the tournament, but batting has been a problem. Gautam Gambhir and Eoin Morgan have both posted fifties, but have had little support, and the indifferent form of Jacques Kallis is a concern.

Sun Risers Hyderabad have also struggled with the bat, but their bowlers, led by Dale Steyn have performed much better than expected. At the time of writing, they boast four of the top ten wicket takers in IPL 6 and have won three from four.

The Eden Gardens pitch is hard to predict, but it can favour the bowlers, and since that is the strength of both these teams, it wouldn't be a surprise if this was a low scoring affair. Sun Risers have the momentum and they have the best fast bowler in the world. Back the visitors to edge this one.
