Cross-Sport Multiple: Liverpool to keep Euro dream alive

Andrew Hughes thinks Liverpool can virtually relegate Reading on Saturday and help land a cross-sport multiple in the process.

Betfair now gives you the facility to mix and match your multiples across a huge range of sports and markets with the easy-to-use betslip and so each weekend I've been putting together a cross-sport treble with the aim of showing the way to maximise your profits.

Bet 1: Back Liverpool to beat Reading at 1.44

Anton Zingarevich's late season gamble in sacking Brian McDermott does not seem to have paid off. They've lost three in three since McDermott's departure, although the most significant of those was last week's home loss to Southampton.

Reading are eight points adrift of safety and probably need to win five of their last six games, a particularly tall order, given that the goals have dried up. They've found the net just six times in the last eight matches, and they are beyond the stage where plucky draws against stronger opponents will be enough.

Liverpool's hopes of European qualification may now be slim, but they do have winnable fixtures against four teams in the bottom half of the table to come. They've been inconsistent in recent weeks, but they have the firepower to dispose of poor teams, and should be able to get the win at the Madjeski Stadium.

Bet 2: Back Exeter to beat London Irish at 1.35

London Irish are twelve points clear of bottom side London Welsh and a win at Sandy Park on Saturday will secure their Premiership status. However, that won't be an easy task at a venue where they haven't won since October 2010.

And Exeter still have plenty to play for in this campaign. They are currently eighth but are hitting form at the right time in the hunt for a top six finish. They've only lost one of the last four, and that was against Leicester Tigers.

The visitors have a dangerous back three, but their defence has been shaky away from home this season and they could struggle at set pieces against a powerful Exeter team will a simple but effective game-plan. The Chiefs have only lost two home games in the Premiership this season, both against top four teams and have won six out of nine at Sandy Park. Back Exeter to prevail.

Bet 3: Back Chennai Super Kings to beat Royal Challengers Bangalore at 1.85

It's the battle of the south on Saturday as Chennai take on Bangalore. Bangalore are the form team of IPL6 so far, with three wins from four games, and their only failure came in a Super Over decider against Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Their explosive start has been mainly down to the best Twenty20 batsman in the world, Chris Gayle, and his captain Virat Kohli, who have already scored 389 runs between them. With those two on-song, Bangalore are capable of chasing down almost any total.

But their record against Chennai is not good. They've lost four of their last five against the Super Kings, and on each of their last four visits to the M A Chidambaram Stadium, they've left empty handed. Chennai lost their opener, but found some form in beating Pune last time out, and can edge this one.
