Deschamps backs Spain credentials

World Cup Brazil 2014

France coach Didier Deschamps has refused to play down the class of reigning world and European champions Spain ahead of a crucial World Cup qualifier between the two sides on Tuesday.

Spain, 5/1 to win the 2014 World Cup with bet365, were held to a 1-1 draw by Finland on Friday evening, meaning that a win or draw for Les Bleus at the Stade de France will mean that they only need to win their last three qualifiers to ensure top spot in Group I. However, Deschamps is wary of reading too much into his opponents dropping points against the Finns, telling AS: "Spain are still the best team in the world. They were before, they are now and they will be after tomorrow's match. "It's true that for us, now, there are two positive results tomorrow - the win and the draw. But a draw would not give us much of a guarantee because it would oblige us to win every match that is left. "We have to have a great game against the best team in the world."
