Liverpool midfielder Steven Gerrard looks set to play in England's friendly international against Sweden on Wednesday after scans showed his knee injury was not serious.

The 32-year-old picked up the problem in the closing stages of Sunday's 1-1 draw at Chelsea but the scan confirmed that he had not suffered any knee ligament damage. That clears the way for him to become the sixth Englishman to represent his country 100 times, following in the footsteps of Peter Shilton, David Beckham, Bobby Moore, Bobby Charlton and Billy Wright. Ashley Cole, who is currently injured, has 99 caps to his name. Gerrard is 11/1 with bet365 to open the scoring on Wednesday while a 2-1 Sweden win is available at 17/2.
