Golf: McIlroy enjoys Doral upturn

Rory McIlroy, who is 11/8 with bet365 to win a Major this year, is pleased with the progress he feels that he made during the WGC-Cadillac Championship.

The world number one struggled at first on the Blue Monster, but hit top form in the final round as he shot 65 to finish the tournament in a tie for eighth place. An upbeat McIlroy told Sky Sports: "I feel a lot better. Regardless of the score, I hit a lot of good shots over the last three days. "I am really happy compared to the start of the week, although there is still a bit to go. I made a lot of birdies and eagles, so it is a case of limiting the mistakes. "I'm a lot happier with where my game is and a lot happier for the next few weeks." McIlroy will now take a break from the course, with his next appearance coming at the Shell Houston Open at the end of the month.
