Horse Racing: Hurricane Fly back to his best

24Jan 2013

Willie Mullins is happy with Hurricane Fly's form and believes the former Cheltenham Champion Hurdle winner can be successful in the race again this year.

Hurricane Fly struggled last year and ran a lack-lustre race when trying to defend his crown at the Festival. This year though he has been back to his best, impressing at Leopardstown and Punchestown. Mullins said: "He looks in great shape. I'll give him one more gallop and then it's off for the Champion Hurdle. There wasn't anything wrong with him as such last year. It was more a case of us not being able to get the strength and conditioning into him. "The only thing to concentrate upon is the Irish Champion Hurdle on Sunday. I'm thinking absolutely no further than that but I am very happy with the way he looks at the moment." Hurricane Fly is 7/2 with bet365 to win the Champion Hurdle at Cheltenham and 1/3 to win the Irish Champion Hurdle this weekend.
