Lee Dixon: QPR should shade the game against Norwich, but it won't be pretty

England - Premier League

Our Ambassador Lee Dixon expects QPR to edge Norwich in a cagey encounter on Saturday, but he's not holding his breath for goals...

QPR v Norwich

It was no real surprise seeing QPR draw a blank again at home last week, but Harry Redknapp and his team will look on that as a decent point against the champions and  they've now had three draws on the spin. Three points from three games doesn't look like much but it gives them a platform and, on this form, if Redknapp had been in  charge from the start of the season Rangers would be in 12th position and in far less trouble on the pitch.

I can see this game against Norwich being a tight affair early on, but I have to say I do feel that Rangers will hit some proper form sooner or later and give their  fans something to cheer about going into the relegation fight. They're making signings, which will increase competition for places and could give them the improvement  in performance that they so desperately need.

Norwich will still be reeling from their cup exit despite a good point against Spurs last night, and the Canaries are hardly in blistering form with two defeats and  six draws from their last eight league games. This game is hardly going to be a thriller either; QPR have only managed a paltry eight goals at home all season (which  makes you feel sorry for all those season ticket holders) and Norwich only just manage a goal a game in the league. As a result, I can't see anything other than a low  scoring affair at Loftus Road this Saturday lunchtime.

Another factor that could make this a cagey game is that both teams would have earmarked this as a winnable game and will potentially be nervous about being on the end  of a damaging defeat. Messrs Hughton and Redknapp could fall into the safety-first trap which could make for an edgy war of attrition. Essentially, whichever way you  look at it it's hard to see goals so a 0-0 scoreline at half time might be a decent bet if you can get a good price.

I think QPR will win this by the odd goal, and my bet would have to be QPR 1-0 in the Correct Score market, currently trading at 8.6. As a supplementary flutter, Under 2.5 Goals is currently trading at just about evens 1.98 and, judging by the way these two teams have played so far this season, that looks absolutely nailed on.
