Martinez ready for relegation battle

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez is only too aware that his side are just one of many that are going to be involved in the battle to avoid relegation this season.

Martinez takes his team, currently 19th in the Premier League table, to mid-table Stoke City for their next match. The Latics, 11/8 with bet365 to be relegated this season, are 11/4 to beat the Potters. Former Swansea City boss Martinez says: "This year the bottom positions are really open. "A lot of teams are going to get involved. If you don't get the 40 points that you need you are going to be fighting to avoid relegation. "There are ways of winning football games and everyone will have a say from now until the end of the season."
