Mercedes tipped for Monte Carlo glory

Fernando Alonso has backed Mercedes to do well in the Monaco Grand Prix later this month.

The Ferrari driver, 5/2 with bet365 to win in Monaco, managed to come out on top at the Spanish Grand Prix even though the Mercedes duo of Nico Rosberg and Lewis Hamilton had started on the front row. Rosberg eventually finished sixth in Barcelona while Hamilton was 12th, but Alonso has tipped them to challenge for podium places in Monaco. Alonso, 13/10 to win the 2013 drivers' title, said: "They will arrive as favourites. They've been on pole for the last three races. It's more difficult to overtake in Monaco... so maybe they can keep good positions for longer."
