Monte Carlo Rolex Masters Betting: Rufin to punish struggling Andujar

 

The first matches in the opening round of the 2013 Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters begin today, but Sean Calvert has selected two from the qualifiers for his picks today..

 

The Monte-Carlo Country Club in Roquebrune-Cap-Martin welcomes the cream of the ATP Tour as the first round matches of the Monte-Carlo Rolex Masters begin today.

 

Sunday's schedule features the remaining qualifying matches and a handful of first round clashes, including what will probably be a strange encounter between Alex  Dolgopolov and Bernard Tomic.

 

I'm not sure that I would be wanting to put any of my hard earned cash on a match between those two and I prefer a couple of the qualifying matches today for my bets.

 

The value choice for me on Sunday can be found on Court 2, where Guillaume Rufin has a good shot at around 2.2 against the struggling Pablo Andujar.

 

It will be the first meeting between the pair, but Andujar is in a slump right now and as it stands he's slipped down to number 95 in the world rankings after failing  to defend his points from his Casablanca title last year.

 

Andujar was beaten by Pablo Carrero-Busta, who has been in winning form at a lower level, but who rarely plays at tour level, while Rufin was beaten by Tommy Robredo,  who's gone on to reach the final in Casablanca.

 

Confidence must be low in the Andujar camp and the value here lies with the talented Rufin.

 

My other pick today is for Daniel Brands to continue his dominance over Thiemo De Bakker in the match that follows Andujar/Rufin on Court 2.

 

Brands gave Igor Andreev a double bagel thrashing in the previous qualifying round here, although it was the Russian's first match since just after the US Open last  year, while De Bakker has been in the doldrums for a long time.

 

The Dutchman last won a completed match in the main draw at tour level two years ago and Brands has had his number in each of the three matches they've contested in  the past.

 

The big German has been playing at a much higher level than his opponent and I'll be with Brands at around 1.60.
