No sack fears for Adkins

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins insists he has the full backing of chairman Nicola Cortese and does not fear getting the sack.

The Saints, who are bottom of the Premier League table after 10 matches, are 2/5 with bet365 to be relegated but, after securing back-to-back promotions, Adkins says his job is not under threat. Adkins, who had a meeting with his chairman after Monday's defeat to West Brom, said: "The relationship between me and the chairman is very good, and that is the most important relationship at any football club. "There is always going to be pressure, every team wants to be successful, it was always going to be the case. I'm ready for it, I'm loving it." Southampton face Swansea City on Saturday in a game that they can be backed at 8/1 to win 2-1.
