Non-League Previews: Banking on yet more goals at gung-ho Woking

Non-league specialist Alan Alger is backing Luton Town to build towards next season with a point against Newport. He also expects Woking's high-scoring matches to  continue at Kingfield and Tamworth to get three vital points towards their safety at relegated Ebbsfleet

Luton Town v Newport County

Tuesday 19:45

Luton Town may have had an outstanding run in the FA Cup this season, but they have fallen well short of their main target of promotion back to the Football League.  The strong pre-season favourites for the title are looking at top ten finish at best, an outcome that already cost Paul Buckle his job in the Kenilworth Road hotseat.

New boss John Still came with Conference winning credentials from Dagenham & Redbridge and has spent the last few weeks deciding which players he'd like to keep for a  fresh assault on the division in 2013/14. Luton have only lost three of their league games since Still officially took charge and that form is good enough to suggest  that they can achieve a draw against Newport County on Tuesday evening.

Justin Edinburgh's side are assured a playoff spot and have a five-point cushion in third place. The former Tottenham defender will no doubt try to get a breather into  the more important members of his squad and that could lead to a scrappy game. Luton have been making plenty of changes too, as Still runs the rule over a large squad.  A point wouldn't be a disaster for either team and that looks the best bet.

Recommended Bet: Back the draw at 3.1

Woking v Grimsby Town

Tuesday 19:45

Woking won a nine-goal thriller against Macclesfield on Saturday as they enhanced their reputation as one of the Blue Square Bet Premier's most entertaining teams.  Games involving Garry Hill's side have averaged an incredible 3.41 goals per game, only a fraction second to struggling Southport's on 3.42. That's more than half a  goal higher than the average for the whole division. Saturday's game against Macclesfield summed up what has been a crazy season in the fifth tier. Woking raced into a  5-0 half-time lead against the troubled Cheshire outfit, but a second-half turnaround saw the away side get four goals back and miss a number of chances to level the  game.

Grimsby Town are the visitors to Kingfield on Tuesday evening and with a playoff spot assured they will be making a number of changes to keep fresh legs for the end of  season shoot-out. It's worth noting that Grimsby away games are among the lowest scoring in the division, but three of their last four games on the road have produced  over 2.5 goals. With Woking's gung-ho style it's well worth speculating that there will be another goal rush in west Surrey.

Recommended Bet: Back Over 2.5 Goals at 1.8 (Best bet)

Ebbsfleet United v Tamworth

Tuesday 19:45

Ebbsfleet handed AFC Telford their first win since October on Saturday and the relegated club may not be able to halt their slide at home to Tamworth on Tuesday night.  The away side arrive in Kent with a desperate need to claim three points as they try to avoid joining The Fleet in the division's trapdoor. The home side have not won  any of their last seven matches and with their fate sealed may already be looking ahead to the summer.

Tamworth will be aware of Stockport, two points behind them in the final relegation spot, having a tougher run-in but this is a must-win game for them. They haven't  won on the road since February 19, but as Ebbsfleet showed on Saturday they are not adverse to helping a club end a poor sequence. Tamworth know that victory here and  avoiding defeat at home to Woking on the final day should be enough, it's worth backing them to get 'part one' signed, sealed and delivered at Stonebridge Road against  a team that haven't kept a clean-sheet in their last 13 league matches.

Recommended Bet: Back Tamworth at 2.2
