England - Premier League

Christian Crowther hand picks three more of Opta's stats for Tottenham's clash with Manchester City and gives three accompanying bets...

Tottenham v Manchester City (Sunday, 13:30, Sky Sports 1)

Spurs have lost their last four Barclays Premier League encounters with Manchester City - this after losing just three of their previous 27

With the season entering its critical stages, Tottenham fans are feeling that now familiar sense of foreboding that their team may once again run out of puff. In beating the old enemy at the start of March, it had looked as if Andre Villas-Boas' side had finally turned the tide Tottenham's way in the power struggle for north London supremacy. However, the Lilywhites have managed to procure just four more points from a possible 12 since then. In opponents Man City, they face a team clinging to their title threads and playing some of their best football of the season. Spurs should receive a massive boost from Gareth Bale's expected return, but all three points may be beyond them right now.

Recommended Bet: Back the draw @ 3.6

Edin Dzeko has scored five goals against Spurs in the Premier League, including four in their last trip to White Hart Lane (5-1) - more than against any other opponent in the competition

The news that Sergio Aguero is a major doubt for this mammoth lunchtime clash will not be received well by those of sky blue persuasion. While Aguero has not enjoyed the sort of prolific campaign he had last season, the Argentine had hit excellent form again of late, before picking up a hamstring strain in the first half of the midweek game against Wigan. However, the news will probably be greeted with inner delight by Dzeko, who has endured another in-and-out season at the Etihad Stadium. Dzeko should be assured a start if Aguero misses out and, after racking up four goals at the Lane last season, will be unleashed once more after scoring twice in the recent international break for Bosnia.

Recommended Bet: Back Edin Dzeko to score @ 3.75

There have been 14 goals scored in the last three Premier League games between Spurs and Man City, with 10 of those being netted by the Citizens

Goals shouldn't be too hard to come by in this fixture if the last few renewals are anything to go by. The last three Premier League encounters have all surpasses the 2.5 goals mark. City prevailed 2-1 at the Etihad thanks to Edin Dzeko's 88th-minute winner back in November while last season's league match-ups sailed north of the 4.5 goals mark. The 5-1 that the champions doled out on their 2011/12 trip to the Lane still represents Spurs' heaviest home Premier League defeat since 1997. With Carlos Tevez in sparkling form with eight goals in his last nine appearances and Bale back in business, the goals should flow once more.

Best Bet: Back Over 2.5 goals @ 1.91
