Opta Stats: Everton farewell to be a tight affair

12May 2013

England - Premier League

Armed with those all-knowing Opta stats, Christian Crowther plucks out four more bets to accompany the weekend's Premier League action...

Stoke v Tottenham (Sunday, 13:30, Sky Sports 1)

If Tottenham score 2+ goals in this game they will equal their club record of scoring 2+ goals in six successive Premier League away matches

Tottenham proved by coming back twice at Stamford Bridge that they have plenty of fight left in this brawl for fourth spot. The one thing Andre Villas-Boas is blessed with is plenty of attacking talent and, away from home especially, the Lilywhites find the net with ease. Only Aston Villa (13) have scored more Premier League goals in the past six games than Tottenham, with Gareth Bale striking in 10 of the Londoners' 18 away league games.

Recommended Bet: Back Tottenham to score two or more goals @ 2.22

Everton v West Ham (Sunday, 15:00)

Each of Everton's last five Premier League games have gone under 2.5 goals

David Moyes' last home game in charge of his beloved Toffees promises to be an emotional affair for those of a blue persuasion as the Scotsman packs his belongings for Old Trafford. However, the stats surrounding these sides' recent clashes do little to support the theory that Everton's players will oblige the occasion by blowing West Ham away - three of the last four encounters have ended level. Everton have also failed to score in their last three penultimate games of the season.

Best Bet: Back Under 2.5 goals @ 2.2

QPR v Newcastle (Sunday, 15:00)

Newcastle have won three of their last four league clashes with QPR by a single goal to nil (one 0-0 draw)

Newcastle fans must be left wondering how it ever came to this. Wigan may have done the Toon a big favour by losing at home to Swansea in midweek but the maths is still simple: Newcastle need three points fast as they have a shocking goal difference. QPR should make about the most favourable opponents for the Magpies to achieve this, as the R's have not only failed to score a Premier League goal in 365 minutes but they've not registered in five of their last seven at Loftus Road either.

Recommended Bet: Back Newcastle to win 1-0 @ 9.2

Sunderland v Southampton (Sunday, 15:00)

Four of Southampton's last five games have gone under 2.5 goals

Two more teams with their toes dipped in the relegation pool meet at the Stadium of Light on Sunday afternoon. Sunderland's main problem is their inability to score enough goals to win games of late - they've only notched three in as many league matches. Meanwhile Saints' own untimely downturn in form can be attributed to the south coast club only scoring only once in their last four games.

Recommended Bet: Back Under 2.5 goals @ 1.79
