Laura Robson set up a second round clash against the former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova after thrashing Melanie Oudin at the Australian Open.

The 18-year-old, currently the world number 53, eased past the American 6-2 6-3, firing down 11 aces along the way, to set up a meeting with the eighth seed. Kvitova has been in poor form leading up to the tournament, which she is 25/1 with bet365 to win, so Robson, 14/1 to be knocked out in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open, knows she has a good chance of causing a shock against the Czech Republic star. Robson said of the Kvitova clash: "I'll go in with nothing to lose again. I seem to play pretty well when I do that. It's going to be tough, two lefties playing each other. I haven't played a lefty in a while, so I'm going to have to try as best I can."
