England - Premier League

Using Opta's all-important stats, Christian Crowther picks out four headline-makers from the midweek Premier League fixtures...

Everton v West Brom (Wednesday, 19:45)

Victor Anichebe has scored in two of his last three Premier League games against West Brom, despite playing a combined 69 minutes over those three matches

You have to feel for Anichebe, who has once again had to make do with primarily substitute appearances for the majority of another season despite Nikica Jelavic toiling in a blue shirt this campaign. When called upon, Anichebe often delivers, notching five to date this season, and if Moyes sticks with his latest pattern of alternating his starts in Premier League games, then the Nigerian should be in for another go right from the whistle at Goodison Park.

Recommended Bet: Back Victor Anichebe to score @ 3.4

Manchester United v Southampton (Wednesday, 20:00)

Wayne Rooney has scored five goals in his last five Premier League appearances and has three goals in his last three league games against Southampton

Like a wine which has been opened for a period, Rooney's return to match fitness has gathered sharpness with each passing day. His strike against Fulham in the FA Cup on Saturday - his second in the competition inside 11 days - was a thing of beauty and gave a clear indication to Sir Alex Ferguson that he is back and ready to help fire his side towards a 20th title. Although he was initially on the bench against Tottenham, he should be a shoo-in to start here.

Recommended Bet: Back Wayne Rooney to score @ 2.0

Reading v Chelsea (Wednesday, 20:00)

Adam Le Fondre has scored with four of his last five shots (excl. blocked) in the Premier League

Every time Chelsea take a step forward under Rafa Benitez, they then take a giant one backwards. Although Benitez would point to more defensive resoluteness since his tenure began, there is still an air of vulnerability about the Blues at the back as was exposed against Brentford. Having strung together four consecutive wins, including two in the Premier League, Reading's confidence could not be any higher and, in light of his five goals contributing to that run, no one is more dialled in at present than Royals striker Le Fondre.

Recommended Bet: Back Adam Le Fondre to score @ 4.5
