The impact of Robin van Persie could be crucial in the race for the Premier League title this season, according to Manchester City manager Roberto Mancini.

Van Persie, a summer recruit from Arsenal, has already knocked in 14 league goals this season and is 6/4 with bet365 to be the leading goalscorer in the Premier League, while United are 4/11 to be crowned champions. Mancini, who admitted that City had tried to sign Van Persie themselves, told reporters: "Robin van Persie is a very important player for United.
