Sneijder could make Tottenham switch

Aston Villa striker Darren Bent

Reports of a rift with Paul Lambert surfaced early in the season and a combination of Bent's seeming unpopularity, plus injury, have limited the striker to just 10  Premier League appearances to date. Now Aston Villa's record signing is a prime candidate to move on in the window with the likes of QPR and Liverpool apparently  waiting in the wings. With Liverpool's reported capture of Daniel Sturridge however, Loftus Road may be a more probable destination. QPR are desperate for goals after  registering just once in three straight defeats over Christmas, leaving them bottom and priced at around 1.26 for the drop. A trip to in-form Chelsea tonight  looks set to offer little charity either with the hosts available at 2.12 to win to nil.

 

Inter attacking midfielder Wesley Sneijder

The Dutchman's understandable refusal to sign a new contract at reduced terms is cited as the main reason for his lengthy omission from Inter's squad - stretching back  over three months - making a move away a near-certainty. The only real question mark is the destination. Manchester United are the club who have long been associated  with the playmaker, however the arrival of Shinji Kagawa last summer combined with his side's success so far this season could prevent Sir Alex Ferguson from wanting  to reinforce at this point. Therefore, it's Tottenham who have emerged as Premier League frontrunners for Sneijder's signature, with Andre Villas-Boas keen to add the  creativity that their midfield lost when Luka Modric joined Real Madrid. Spurs have enjoyed a fruitful festive period and, with the addition of Sneijder, their chances  of a top-four finish - rated at around 2.2 - would surely be bolstered.

 

Shanghai Shenhua striker Nicolas Anelka

If reports are to be believed, the nomadic Frenchman has itchy feet once more after only 12 months collecting megabucks at Shanghai Shenhua. With the season now  finished in China, this seems like the perfect opportunity for the unsettled striker to move on. There are a few frontrunners for his signature with London clubs West  Ham and QPR believed to be tabling bids. Harry Redknapp is desperate for more options in attack with long-term injuries to both Andy Johnson and Bobby Zamora making  Djibril Cisse and Jamie Mackie his only fit recognised strikers. West Ham are also keen to bolster their forward line with the future of Andy Carroll still in doubt,  though large wage demands could prove a stumbling block for the Hammers.
