Making his ninth straight appearance at the Masters, the fact Maguire has yet to reach a final speaks volumes about his career trajectory. Once regarded as a future  world number one and still capable of virtually unbeatable, heavy-scoring snooker, Maguire always seems to throw in a stinker or just find one too good when it matters  in the big events. Nevertheless, five ranking final appearances throughout 2012 is an enviable record and at least, for once, he doesn't have to worry about long-term  nemesis O'Sullivan.
