England - Capital One Cup

Swansea will play European football next season after thrashing Bradford in the Capital One Cup final. Mike Norman reports on the In-Play odds matched...

Swansea City have won the Capital One Cup thanks to a 5-0 win over Bradford City at Wembley this afternoon.

Premier League outfit Swansea were strong favourites - matched at a high of 1.54 to win in 90 minutes - to beat their League Two opponents and did a thoroughly professional job in not allowing the underdogs a sniff of cup glory.

Having already eliminated Premier League clubs Wigan, Arsenal and Aston Villa, the Bantams were not to be underestimated, but the Swans got their noses in front inside 16 minutes when Nathan Dyer pounced on a parried Michu shot to slide home the opener.

Phil Parkinson's men struggled to get much possession of the ball and free-flowing Swansea went 2-0 up as the interval appproached; Michu firing into the corner of the net from a tight angle.

The 2-0 Half Time Score was matched at 10.5 with Dyer hitting a high of 13.5 to open the scoring.

If Bradford had any hopes of getting back into the final they were soon dashed as Swansea went 3-0 up just minutes in to the second half, Dyer getting his second with a lovely curling finish.

The afternoon went from bad to worse for the Bantams when arguably the player of the tournament, goalkeeper Matt Duke, was dismissed for denying Michu a goalscoring opportunity. After a brief 'discussion', Jonathan De Guzman took the resulting spot-kick ahead of Dyer and promptly made it 4-0.

A Sending Off was available to back at 11.5 prior to kick-off.

The remainder of the game was played out in sedate fashion with the top-flight club now wanting to embarrass their lower-league opponents, though De Guzman got his second, and Swansea's fifth, in time added on.

The 5-0 Correct Score was matched at 60.0 In-Play.

Swansea were considered relative outsiders to lift the trophy at the start of the tournament and were matched at a high of 65.0 in the Winner market.

It's back to Premier League action now however for Michael Laudrup's cup winners, and they can be backed currently at 1.44 to record a Top 10 Finish.
