Three teams to end 2012 in style

29Dec 2012

Jonno Turner picks three sides to make up this one-off Continental Edition of his Big Saturday Multiple.

We're off to Portugal for the first pick of this Big Saturday Multiple European Edition, and in-form CD Aves welcome Atletico CP to the Estadio do Clube Esportivo das Aves, looking to extend their excellent recent form.

The hosts currently sit third in the Liga de Honra, and go into this tie unbeaten in seven outings - with three consecutive wins in their last three games.

Boss Jose Vilaca will be delighted with that return from his side, who are unbeaten in 23 of their last 26 on their own patch, and will be full of confidence ahead of this encounter.

And two clean sheets from four at home suggests that the Vila das Aves side is more than capable of holding out their visitors in this tie.

Atletico CP travel to their opponents having gone four games without a win - and no goals scored in their last two indicates that their forward line is lacking the necessary prowess to propel them to victory here.

Filipe Moreira's side are on a dreaful run of form on their travels, and have won just once in 21 outings away from the Estadio Tapadinha - losing 15 of the remaining 20.

That has left the away side sitting in 15th position in the table, and they are just seven points off the relegation places with over a third of the campaign played.

Aves are unbeaten in their last two ties with Atletico - and I'm backing them for the win here, as my home NAP of the day.

Bet 1: CD Aves (HOME) @ 1.5

Switching our attentions to Israel now - as Bnei Sakhnin host Hapoel Acre at the Doha Stadium.

The home side have won their last two, and will be desperate to continue that momentum in this encounter - in order to lift themselves closer to the Championship Round of the Ligat Ha'al.

Shlomi Dora's side experienced a slow start to the campaign, but their results have picked up of late, and they are unbeaten in eight of their last 10 outings.

Furthermore, just one loss from half a dozen on their own patch will give them real hope of taking maximum points from this one - and a 3-2 win in their last clash in front of their own fans suggests that Dora has instilled some much needed resilience in his side.

The away side travel to Sakhnin in the midst of a miserable run, and have failed to win in nine outings - losing four of their last five.

Gaffer Shimon Edri will be feeling the pressure following that barren period, and will be keen for his side to arrest that slump here, but history suggests that his side will struggle - and they are without a win in five away from the Acre Municipal Stadium.

Alarmingly for their boss will be the fact that they have shipped six goals in three games, and that defensive rot must be stopped if the visitors are to improve upon their current league position of third bottom.

Bet 2: Bnei Sakhnin (HOME) @ 2.14

Back to Portugal now for our final pick - and Naval are looking to continue their current momentum as they face Sporting Covilha at the Jose Bento Pessoa this evening.

The home side have been going great guns of late, and are unbeaten in 11 outings ahead of this clash.

Boss Alvaro Magalhaes will be delighted with that run of form, and keen for his side to extend those results in order to lift themselves closer to the top six.

A 3-1 win at Freamunde in their last outing will have given the Navalistas much confidence ahead of this one, and nothing less than three points will do against a Covilha side who look set to endure a long hard season.

The visitors currently sit third bottom of the second tier - and boss Tulipa will know that it is integral his side start to show positive signs soon, otherwise they will be in serious danger of going down.

But just one win, and six losses, from their last eight games suggests that there is something seriously wrong down at the Complexo Desportivo da Covilha, and a 2-1 loss to CD Aves last time out wasn't the best preparation for this away trip.

The hosts are unbeaten in 10 against their opponents - having won half a dozen of those - and I think that they will chalk up another three points here.

Bet 3: Naval (HOME) @ 1.6
