Toure turns heat on Mancini

FA Cup

Kolo Toure has suggested Manchester City will have to win the FA Cup this season to ensure manager Roberto Mancini keeps his job.

City crushed Leeds 4-0 at the weekend to book a last-eight spot in the famous cup competition and, having crashed out of Europe, only have this trophy to compete for unless local rivals and leaders Manchester United, priced at 1/33 with bet365 in the outright betting, blow a 12-point lead at the top of the Premier League table. Mancini has batted off any suggestion his position is under threat and on Monday claimed "in the last 15 months I am the best manager in England". Ivory Coast defender Toure accepts the players are now under pressure to deliver some silverware but feels they can repeat their 2011 FA Cup success. When asked if City, available to back at 13/8 in the FA Cup outright betting, had to win a major trophy to save Mancini, Toure said: "Yes, of course. "It is very important for the players, for us to win, because that will help the manager to be here for sure." He added: "For a team like City it's difficult to go a season without winning one trophy. For us the FA Cup is really important and the league as well."
