Villa unlikely to recruit

Aston Villa manager Paul Lambert says that he is unlikely to make any new signings before the transfer window shuts, with his side 8/13 with bet365 to be relegated this season.

A 2-1 home loss to Newcastle United left the Villans down in the bottom three and Lambert has warned that there is little prospect of a couple of deals being done to boost his ailing squad. "Do I think people will come in? I am not so sure," Lambert said. "The situation has not really changed since January 1. That is the bottom line." Meanwhile, Lambert is ready for a 'fight' as his side prepare for a battle royal between now and the end of the season. He told BBC Radio 5 live: "We are going to have to fight like hell to get ourselves out of it. We are in a fight like everyone else. You have to fight for it, it's not going to get given to you."
