Whelan plans to shock Arsenal

England - Premier League

Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan hopes the Latics can build on their dramatic FA Cup success by beating Arsenal and improving their chances of avoiding relegation.

The players left their post-match celebrations to the bare minimum after beating Manchester City at Wembley on Saturday as Roberto Martinez's team now have arguably an even bigger game coming up at the Emirates Stadium. Wigan are 25/1 with bet365 to beat the Gunners, who need the three points as they continue their quest for a place in next season's Champions League. Arsenal are 8/11 to finish in the top four of the Premier League this season. Wigan have a clean bill of health after their heroics at Wembley, and Whelan said: "We've had so much bad luck this season. At times, we've had eight first-team players injured. "We could easily have been in the top half of the league this season as we're a good side. The lads went straight back home after Wembley and it's now back to business against Arsenal."
