Zabaleta injury fears ease

 

Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta looks set to be fit enough to face Stoke City in the FA Cup this weekend after scans showed he had not damaged a bone in his foot during the routine 2-0 victory against Fulham last weekend.

 

City had feared that the Argentinian defender was facing a lengthy lay-off after he was forced to limp off against the Cottagers but it appears he only suffered swelling to the foot and not a fracture. Last season's Premier League champions have found the Britannia Stadium a difficult place to visit in recent seasons, having failed to record a league victory there under Roberto Mancini's stewardship.
